advait utsav 2005
date: november 3-5, 2005
singer: uday bhawalkar

himalayan village and soulitudes presented this unique celebration of music and nature.

dhrupad as a form stems from the oldest traditions of indian art music. the music is contemplative in nature and is practiced by few exponents in the country. the inaugural advait utsav in 2004 saw the renowned exponent of this musical form, uday bhawalkar, share his music with participants at churhat kothi, a boutique retreat situated amidst the jungles of bandhavgarh.

this year, uday will bring the music closer to us yet again at himalayan village sonapani. the early morning will be embellished with musical alaaps and the evening will be drenched in candlelight concerts.

and finally, the 180 degree view of the great himalayan peaks will be the stage where the form of sound will unfold. our hospitality will include morning & walks through the mukteshwar forests, native cuisine and fruits & vegetables from the organic farm.
uday bhawalkar evokes the primordial sound nada brahman, which has been the source from which our classical musical traditions have manifested.
